Myapu Elsie Thomas paints out of the Mangkaja Arts Center at Fitzroy Crossing, Western Australia. Her country extends along the southern reaches of the Great Sandy Desert. Elsie and Nyuju Stumpy Brown are very close in age and the two girls were young playmates in the warla country, an area that is known on kartiya maps as the Percival Lakes region. Myapu paints the waterholes in her country in a style similar to many artists painting out of Balgo Hills. Her main waterholes include Milyany, Yantiny, Pillilmalu, Jurtal and Kurrkumalu
